After hearing the news that Star Conflict will shut down on October 10th, 2026 (source), a number of active and ex-players scramble to veto this descision to find a way to continue this great game.

A complete removal of everything we have achieved, paid for and collected is a very irrational decision that many do not appreciate. We want to at least have a fair discussion between us and/or the developers, whilst hoping for a positive correspondence by the publisher. In the worst case, The Outpost will try to remain as a time capsule where players can reminisce about the days when the game was active and share whatever media or stories they have to relive some good memories.

What makes the game so special?

  • Distinctive game: Star Conflict has its own subtle atmosphere while combining intellectual strategizing with split-second action decisions.
  • Variety: Hundreds of weapons, ships and modules, plus strategic use, make a lot of boom and bang.
  • Immersive sceneries: Cinematic and captivating space zones, each with their own trademark feelings and lores.
  • On-and-off game: No pressure to play round after round, you can return to hangar any time to trade, craft or chat.

What were some flaws of the game?

"Were" as in the past tense: We could remove the bottlenecks of the game and improve on them, hopefully being able to max out the fun and immersion so that no wishes remain unanswered. Through a collective "votum" system, we could sift through the most common complaints of players about the gameplay aspects and make sure no demands get lost - by using democracy to decide the next steps, then piping them to our developers.

  • Short co-op rounds: Co-op was mostly just 2 minutes of spawn killing.
  • Limited number of missions: Only 16 PvE missions accompanied us for a long time, and only 3 spec ops were the only ones available..
  • PvE level wars: The level selection caused a lot of friction since anyone could vote a low level, wasting the time of other players.
  • Pay-to-win and cheating: The most complaints from players stem from unfair advantages to those who pay. Regular surges of cheaters with aimbots or near-invincibility has also ruined fun and patience a lot. Mods hardly ever took good action.

Conclusion:

We believe that the game needs tweaks and changes instead of a discontinuation, to make the game’s aspect as fair and enjoyable as possible for everyone. We are also demanding the option to continue playing Star Conflict on user-hosted private servers and make all premium features, ships, weapons etc. freely available once it is community-hosted.
