I’ve been working on a project to make SEC financial data more accessible and wanted to share what I just implemented. https:\/\/nomas.fyi<\/a><\/p>\n **The Problem:**<\/p>\n XBRL taxonomy names are technical and hard to read or feed to models. For example:<\/p>\n – “EntityCommonStockSharesOutstanding”<\/p>\n These are accurate but not user-friendly for financial analysis.<\/p>\n **The Solution:**<\/p>\n We created a comprehensive mapping system that normalizes these to human-readable terms:<\/p>\n – “Common Stock, Shares Outstanding”<\/p>\n **What we accomplished:**<\/p>\n \u2705 Mapped 11,000+ XBRL taxonomies from SEC filings<\/p>\n \u2705 Maintained data integrity (still uses original taxonomy for API calls)<\/p>\n \u2705 Added metadata chips showing XBRL taxonomy, SEC labels, and descriptions<\/p>\n \u2705 Enhanced user experience without losing technical precision<\/p>\n **Technical details:**<\/p>\n – Backend API now returns taxonomy metadata with each data response<\/p>\n – Frontend displays clean chips with XBRL taxonomy, SEC label, and full descriptions<\/p>\n – Database stores both original taxonomy and normalized display names<\/p>\n – Caching system for performance<\/p>\n Upvote1Downvote0Go to comments <\/p>\n<\/div>\n submitted by \/u\/ccnomas <\/a>
