I need some source of information for a data science project (academic research). Specifically, I need to retrieve an historical record of news about certain topic so I am thinking of using a news API instead of web scraping because these APIs seem to return the kind of data I am searching for.<\/p>\n
I’ve came upon some of them such as newsdata.io, newsapi.org and newsapi.ai, but I am wondering if its usage is legal and realiable? I mean, are they legal themselves? And if so, am I inherently allowed to use them for my personal (academic) purposes?<\/p>\n

I mean, should I have any concern about this?<\/strong> It’s not like Twitter or Reddit’s API where data belongs to them and they deliberately give it to you. (In fact, I\u2019m asking this because I planned to extract data from these platforms but I\u2019ve just realized it\u2019s just not possible at all so I am wondering if there\u2019s another alternative I can use to meet my requirment)<\/p>\n Well… in essence, my questions are: Are these platforms\/tools (APIs) legitimate and meant for data science?<\/strong> or, in other words: is it a common\/familiar practice to use these kind of “news APIs” for data science?<\/p>\n I didn’t even knew them. Have you ever tried them before?
