I encourage the<br \/>\nchanging of ideas of how to complete the requirements. When the new scouts join troop and attend 1st patrol<br \/>\n     meeting, the TG\/PL can sign off T7.  (patrol name,yell<br \/>\n     etc.)<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; T7<\/p>\n<p>2.  New scout must attend scout camp at least once in their<br \/>\n     first year of scouting.  Either the summer before they<br \/>\n     enter the troop or the summer after.  The scouts who<br \/>\n     attend the summer before must attend the first year<br \/>\n     program.  S7 and part of F9 are covered by the swim tag<br \/>\n     test.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; S7, part of F9 (scouts who attended scout<br \/>\n      camp only!!!)<\/p>\n<p>3.  1 day trip to your local park before the 1st camp-out<br \/>\n     (usually Sept) &#8211; to show new scouts how to set up and<br \/>\n     take down tents.  At the same time a few knots and<br \/>\n     lashings can be taught to them.  If time allows, do the<br \/>\n     exercises for T9a.  To cover the camp gadget<br \/>\n     requirement, have scouts use the lashings to make a<br \/>\n     chin-up bar.  Also show the scout the poisonous and<br \/>\n     regular local plants &#8211;Poison Ivy is a must.  For the<br \/>\n     poisonous plants, tell how to treat for exposure.  If<br \/>\n     wanted, (and allowed by park) bring in supplies for<br \/>\n     making a hot lunch on the site.  All new scouts must<br \/>\n     help cook and clean up.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; T9a, T3a+b, T10, S2d, F6<\/p>\n<p>4.  Repeat T9a 1 month after day trip.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; T9b<\/p>\n<p>5.  At troop meeting &#8211; go over requirements dealing with 1st<br \/>\n     aid as a lecture.  The information in req T11a+b, and<br \/>\n     S6a+c F8a,b,c+d should be able to make 1 long lecture.<br \/>\n     Hold a competition on the skills.  First aid Mb should<br \/>\n     be encouraged.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; T11a+b, S6a+c, F8a,b,c+d.<br \/>\n6.  At patrol meetings, PL\/TG can go over\/discuss T4, T5, T6,<br \/>\n     T8 with the new scouts.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; T4, T5, T6, T8<\/p>\n<p>7.  Attend Sept. camp-out (if joined after Sept. do skills at<br \/>\n     first opportunity)  Teach all scouts who need it Tot-n-<br \/>\n     Chip and Fire-n-Chip.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; T1, T2, S2b, S2c, S2e<\/p>\n<p>All of the Requirements for Tenderfoot have been covered in<br \/>\nthe above list.  All the scout needs to do is show scout<br \/>\nspirit, Sm conference, and Board of Review.<\/p>\n<p>8.  Scout must attend 2 more camp-outs.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; S2a, F3.<\/p>\n<p>9.  At patrol meeting(s), the PL\/TG can discuss requirements<br \/>\n     S1a, S5, S6b.  Note S6b must be taken on the next<br \/>\n     possible hike.  (The hike required by S1b counts.)<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; S1a, S5, S6b (to signed on hike (S6b only))<\/p>\n<p>10. A troop trip of a day hike using a compass and a map<br \/>\n     covers the requirement for S1b.<br \/>\nReq Covered &#8212; S1b.<\/p>\n<p>11.  At as many as needed troop meetings, the new scout<br \/>\n      patrol (Brat Patrol) will do the openings and closing<br \/>\n      until all of the scouts have a chance to take part in 1<br \/>\n      opening and 1 closing.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; S3.<\/p>\n<p>12.  Troop must hold a service project and new scout must<br \/>\n      serve for at least one hour on this project.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; S4.<\/p>\n<p>13.  On the assumption that the scout participate in a drug<br \/>\n      awareness program in school they can be signed off for<br \/>\n      the requirement in S8.  If this is not occurring in<br \/>\n      schools, have a guest speaker\/one of the adults do a<br \/>\n      lecture with the scouts about the items listed in S8.<br \/>\n      An option that can be decided by the troop is to do<br \/>\n      both.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; S8.<\/p>\n<p>14.  Hold a troop drowning (Troop swim) over at the local<br \/>\n      public pool\/swimming hole.  The Brat patrol and and<br \/>\n      other under 2nd class scouts can do the swimming<br \/>\n      required for S7 and for F9.  Scouts must use buddy<br \/>\n      system at all times.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; S7, F9.<\/p>\n<p>    All of the requirements for Second Class have been<br \/>\ncovered in the above list.  All the scout needs to do is show<br \/>\nscout spirit, Sm conference, and Board of Review.<br \/>\n15.  At patrol meeting(s), PL\/TG can go over the requirements<br \/>\n      for F1, F7a, F8a.<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; F1, F7a, F8a.<\/p>\n<p>16.  At a troop meeting, a lecture can be on the knots<br \/>\n      required by F7a, T3b, F8a.<br \/>\nReq Covered &#8212; F7a, T3b, F8a.<\/p>\n<p>17.  On a camp-out, the scouts\/patrol can cover the<br \/>\n      requirements in F2, F7a, F7b, F4, F6.  Note for<br \/>\n      requirement F4 the cook for each meal must not be the<br \/>\n      same.  This will give all of the scouts a chance to<br \/>\n      cook.  The TG\/PL is only allowed to act as assistant.<br \/>\nReq. covered &#8212; F2, F7a+b, F4, F6<\/p>\n<p>18.  Req. F5 is covered in school.  (At least that&#8217;s how we<br \/>\n      were signing it off at scout camp summer &#8217;91)<br \/>\nReq. Covered &#8212; F5<\/p>\n<p>19. Troop trip to the local fire house with a demonstration<br \/>\n    of the smoke house.  At my local fire house, a smoke<br \/>\n    house was built as an eagle project.  Plans can be<br \/>\n    obtained by writing to &#8212;  Hauppauge Fire Department,<br \/>\n    Hauppauge, Ny 11788<\/p>\n<p>Req.  covered &#8212; F8c.<\/p>\n<p>    All of the requirements for First Class have been covered<br \/>\nin the above list.  All the scout needs to do is show scout<br \/>\nspirit, Sm conference, and Board of Review.<\/p>\n<p>Any scout that has earned the Arrow of Light has completed<br \/>\nthe following requirements &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>All requirements for the rank of scout.  Also T5 and F5.<\/p>\n<p>=============================================================<\/p>\n<p>     I would like any and all feedback on this list.  If you<br \/>\nuse only some of the ideas.
