– A word about user supported software: –<\/p>\n
The user supported software concept (usually referred to as
\n shareware) is an attempt to provide software at low cost. The
\n cost of offering a new product by conventional means is
\n staggering, and hence dissuades many independent authors and
\n small companies from developing and promoting their ideas. User
\n supported software is an attempt to develop a new marketing
\n channel, where products can be introduced at low cost.<\/p>\n
If user supported software works, then everyone will benefit.
\n The user will benefit by receiving quality products at low cost,
\n and by being able to “test drive” software thoroughly before
\n purchasing it. The author benefits by being able to enter the
\n commercial software arena without first needing large sources of
\n venture capital.<\/p>\n
But it can only work with your support. We’re not just talking
\n about THE LOVE BASE here, but about all user supported software.
\n If you find that you are still using a program after a couple of
\n weeks, then pretty obviously it is worth something to you, and
\n you should send in a contribution.<\/p>\n

– USING THE LOVE BASE –<\/p>\n
Just type LOVEBASE from the DOS prompt and press the return key
\n to run the program.<\/p>\n
All function keys are displayed on the screen.<\/p>\n
Select section from the menu. Bring the menu up at any time by
\n pressing the letter “M”.<\/p>\n
Find text by pressing “F”. Use this to search for an author’s
\n name or for keywords. A global search will search from the very
\n first entry through to the very last. A local search is
\n considerably faster but searches only the section you are
\n currently viewing.<\/p>\n
Repeat the last find operation by pressing “R”.<\/p>\n
Print the currently displayed entry by pressing the letter “P”.<\/p>\n
Send the currently displayed entry to a text file on disk by
\n pressing “T”.<\/p>\n
“G”o to entry number. Goes immediately to the entry number
\n specified.<\/p>\n
Up and down arrow keys move through the entries one at a time.<\/p>\n
Pressing the spacebar moves forward through the entries one at
\n a time.<\/p>\n
Home and end keys move to the first and last entries
\n respectively.<\/p>\n

– THE PURPOSE OF THE LOVE BASE –<\/p>\n
We live in an age devoid of ideals, devoid of dreams, devoid
\n of hope. The dollar is our God, television our mentor, the
\n newspaper our Bible. Drugs and sex make our heaven. Nobody
\n even thinks of perfection as we strive headlong for mediocrity
\n with workman-like efficiency.<\/p>\n
We are dying.<\/p>\n
The ideal of perfect romantic love is far from being the
\n loftiest of ideals. It hardly compares with the ideals of
\n knowledge and wisdom. But the romantic ideal is far superior to
\n the so-called ideals of material wealth and power.<\/p>\n
An ideal is the most wonderful disease, for it makes one
\n totally dissatisfied with life. Only then can one look higher,
\n higher, and maybe . . . begin . . . to think.<\/p>\n

I knew a man called Tom McPherson.

Each step he took he fell down twice.
\n He tripped and stumbled all through life.
\n Accidents that couldn’t happen
\n Were Tom McPherson’s daily pattern.<\/p>\n
Now you may doubt and you may scoff,
\n But he’s fell in and he’s fell off,
\n Everything you’d care to mention,
\n Although, it’s not been his intention.<\/p>\n
One day in Spring he fell again,
\n In love this time with clumsy Gwen.
\n Her two left feet and two left arms,
\n He thought her most appealing charms.<\/p>\n
Of course you’d have no doubt at all
\n That they were married in the fall,
