{"id":13604,"date":"2023-03-21T02:08:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T01:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.graviton.at\/letterswaplibrary\/the-bill-of-rights-lite-by-john-perry-barlow\/"},"modified":"2023-03-21T02:08:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T01:08:09","slug":"the-bill-of-rights-lite-by-john-perry-barlow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.graviton.at\/letterswaplibrary\/the-bill-of-rights-lite-by-john-perry-barlow\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bill Of Rights &#8220;Lite&#8221; By John Perry Barlow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bill of Rights Lite<\/p>\n<p>Amendment I<\/p>\n<p>Congress shall encourage the practice of Judeo-Christian religion by<br \/>\nits own public exercise there of, and shall make no laws abridging the<br \/>\nfreedom of responsible speech (unless such speech is in a digital form or<br \/>\ncontains material that is copyrighted, classified, proprietary or offensive<br \/>\nto non-Europeans, non-males, differently abled or alternativley prefferenced<br \/>\npersons), or the right of people to peaceably assemble (unless such assembly<br \/>\ntakes place on corporate or military property or within an electronic<br \/>\nenvironment), or to petition the government for redress of grievances (unless<br \/>\nsuch grievances relate to national security).<\/p>\n<p>Amendment II<\/p>\n<p>A well-regulated militia having become irrelevant to the security of a free<br \/>\nstate, the right of the people to keep and bear arms against one another<br \/>\nshall remain uninfringed (excepting such arms as may be afforded by the<br \/>\npoor or those prefferred by pushers, terrorists and organized criminals<br \/>\nwhich shall be banned).<\/p>\n<p>Amendment III<\/p>\n<p>No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house without the<br \/>\nowners consent, unless that house is thought to have been used for the<br \/>\ndistrabution of illegal substances. <\/p>\n<p>Amendment IV<\/p>\n<p>The right of the people to be secure in thier persons, houses, papers, and<br \/>\nthe effects against unreasonable searches and seizures many be suspended<br \/>\nto protect public welfare. Upon the unsupported suspicion of law enforcement<br \/>\nofficials, any place or conveyance shall be subject to immediate search, and<br \/>\nany such places or conveyances, or property within them may be permanently<br \/>\nconfiscated without further judicial proceeding.<\/p>\n<p>Admendment V<\/p>\n<p>Any person may be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous involving<br \/>\nillicit substances, terrorism or upon any suspicion whatever, and may be<br \/>\nsubject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb (once<br \/>\nby the state courts, once by the Federal judiciary), and may be compelled by<br \/>\nvarious means (including the forced submission of breath samples, bodily<br \/>\nfluids, or encryption keys) to be a witness against himself, refusal to do so<br \/>\nconstituting an admission of guilt, and may be deprived of life, liberty,<br \/>\nor property without furthor legal delay, and any private property thereby<br \/>\nforfieted shall be dedicated to the discretionary use of the law-enforcement<br \/>\nagents without just compensation.<\/p>\n<p>Amendment VI<\/p>\n<p>In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to speedy<br \/>\nand private plea-bargaining before entering a plea of guilty. The accused<br \/>\nis entitled to the assistance of underpaid and indifferent counsel to<br \/>\nnegotiate his sentence, except where such sentence falls under manitory<br \/>\nsentencing requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Amendment VII<\/p>\n<p>In suits at common law where the contesting parties have nearly unlimited<br \/>\nresources to spend on legal fees the right to trial by jury shall be<br \/>\npreserved<\/p>\n<p>Amendment VIII<\/p>\n<p>Sufficient bail may be required to ensure that dangerous criminals will<br \/>\nremain in custody, where cruel and unusual punishments are ussually inflicted.<\/p>\n<p>Amendment IX<\/p>\n<p>Teh enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed<br \/>\nto deny or disparage other that may be retained bt the government to preserve<br \/>\npublic order, family values, or national security.<\/p>\n<p>Amendment X<\/p>\n<p>The powers not delgated to the United States by the Constitution are reserved<br \/>\nfor to the departments of Justice and Treasury, except when the states are<br \/>\nwilling to forsake Federal financing. <\/p>\n<p>Written by John Perry Barlow, a lyricist for the Gratefull Dead and cofounder<br \/>\nof the EFF.
